At Nelson Nursing Service you can easily access ACC-funded support following sexual abuse or assault.

You will not have to wait to be accepted to start receiving free support.

Who can get help?

Anyone who has experienced sexual abuse or assault in New Zealand can get help, including visitors to this country.

When you are ready to get help you can access ACC funded therapy services delivered by Nelson Nursing Service.

The caring team at Nelson Nursing Service know that a strong and therapeutic relationship is the foundation for successful therapy. Our service gives you the opportunity to build rapport with your therapist and to make a choice about whether they would like to proceed with them.  We will invest the time needed so you are confident you know exactly how your sensitive claim will be managed,  what supports are available and how to easily access them.

The Integrated Services for Sensitive Claims Service allows you to contact Nelson Nursing Service Therapist and receive the free support you need to achieve recovery from, or self management of your mental injury without having to apply directly to ACC.

Our therapists have experience in working in the following areas: Alcohol and other drugs, Children, Females, Intellectual disability, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual,Transgender and Intersex, Males, Maori, Older adults, Prisoners, Young People.

How will your family, whānau and supporters can be involved?

You and your therapist will decide what the involvement of family and whānau will be and where they fit.

They will only be involved if you want them to be.

Gillian is a registered psychologist with over 20 years experience working with adults and children/young people. Her field of expertise is mental injury through sexual abuse or physical injury. Gillian also works with the following:

  • anxiety based disorders
  • loss/grief
  • trauma (including PTSD)
